Ndimaini, Mathira East, Kenya

The Ndimaini coffee is grown in a mineral-rich soil at around 2000 small producing farms. The farmers selectively hand-pick the berries and by the end of the day, they leave the berries at the washing station Ndimaini which is owned by the cooperative Gakuya FCS. The coffee is then sorted here, whereafter it is pulped, processed in clean water from the river and sun dried. Between ten and up to 300 trees can be found on each farm, all of them growing at an altitude of 1700-1900 meters above sea level.
